Essay Topics on Odyssey - Sample Essay TopicIf you're in college or working at a junior college, you'll be expected to take a large number of essays subjects; if not, there are many available essay topics on Odyssey. This educational fantasy novel is fast becoming one of the most popular fiction titles published today. The storyline of the book is set in a long forgotten time period and the events that occur are quite interesting plot line. The main character, Tomas (written as T.I.S in the copyright statement) is one of the last emperors of an empire known as Ildin, before a few centuries ago. In his day, the commoners were not allowed to own land, or have any kind of industry and so it was a poor and overcrowded area.He has taken over as the young king after his father's untimely death, from his sister. She has been forced to marry the younger brother, especially to prevent him from gaining political power, after he manages to get a hold of her throne because of his father's generos ity. With the help of his son, Tomas puts the monarchy back on track and the people flourish under his rule. The empire also goes through a series of conflicts with the neighboring kingdom, which is ruled by two families named Cartugo and Granados. After a war, Tomas rules the empire but instead of granting freedom government policies become more strict. The people also suffer from the communist beliefs that Tomas adopts, as they call the communism. He builds schools and universities, sets up the national treasury, manufactures medicines, and educates his people, but his people are still controlled by his political ideals. The noble families have an advantage in this system as they control the means of production. The only way to change the system is to turn the people against the regime; so when Tomas creates an army of followers, the masses start to rebel against the regime. For this, Tomas needs his daughter, Tiana, who was one of the first to join his party; she's now in charge of t he soldiers. The book is very captivating and the author was able to place a literary and academic theme together in one book. Many people I have mentioned this book to, all agree that it is one of the best sci-fi novels ever written.
